Getting Ancestry.com to Work for You

Riverton FamilySearch Library Announces Its Free August Seminars

Riverton, Utah (August 5, 2015)—The Riverton FamilySearch Library will host a free seminar on Saturday, August 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. The seminar will help genealogists enhance their family history skills. Registration is not required for this free seminar. The Riverton FamilySearch Library is located in the LDS Riverton Office Building at 3740 West Market Center Drive (13175 South), Riverton, Utah.

The keynote speaker from 9:00 to 10:00 will be Amy Wallace, a former customer service agent and trainer for Ancestry.com. She is studying at Brigham Young University for a degree in family history and working to become a certified genealogist. Currently she is a stake and ward family history consultant, serving at the Eagle Mountain family history center.  Amy has been involved in family history since the 1970s, when at age 12 she cranked films with her mother at the Church Office Building. She is the mother of 8 children and has 5 grandchildren.     
Following the keynote presentation from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., 2 blocks of 4 classes each are offering topics of interest for all levels of family history enthusiasts.

10:10–11:10 a.m. Choose one of the following 4 classes:
  • “FamilySearch’s New Foreign Language Indexing Initiative” by Rose Scott and Ornella Lepore
  • “Navigation of findmypast” by Sue Maxwell
  • “Becoming Unforgettable: Leaving a Legacy for Future Generations” by Valerie Elkins
  • “Fast Accurate Research Using FamilySearch” by Van Celaya
11:20 a.m.–12:20 p.m. Choose one of the following 4 classes:
  • “Triple Combination for Finding Your Missing Family … Even on Pioneer Lines” by Ron Ray
  • “MyHeritage” by Sue Maxwell
  • “Creating a Book of Remembrance for Our Day” by Valerie Elkins
  • “Fast Accurate Research Using Google” by Van Celaya
